The owls of Ga'hoole

I have never been one to love owls, but this movie was good.

This movie has one element though that surprised me. The Father figure was not merely not treated as lesser, but truly honorable. In the movie there are two main Owls and their courses, the brothers Kludd, and Soren.

Soren is a dreamer, he takes in his father's legends of the great guardians to heart, and wants to be just like them. He listens to his father when they are beginning flight training. He truly respects his father. Throughout his adventures he is known to site what his Father says, and even after he learns that his father's tales are not entirely true, he still holds onto them, knowing the tales were really far more gruesome than his father had said.

Kludd on the other hand could not have had less to do with his father. He never listens to his father during training, instead trying to make it off his own power and pride. He scoffs at his father's tales, and takes nothing from his words. and in the end he betrays his family for power, and seeks the false honor from a treacherous evil ruler of the owl world.

Though their Father shows up little, and has little time in it, it is clear his impact on the family, and what happened to those who listened to him, and those who didn't.

Well....

Time to do something a little less Christmasy. The season is over, and I need to get all the counters down and whatnot.

We will be back to our normal blog look soon enough. Give me some time to complete it though. I have some ideas to make this place a bit nicer.

As for what I got for christmas, here is the list as I can remember it

A Laptop (Toshiba)
A $50 Sears Gift card to be used for clothes shopping.
A flashlight, umbrella, and soft peppermints
Two albums: No Far Away by Chris August, and Five Score and Seven years Ago by Relient K
Some Board game

Well excuse me as I get to work on Kinderline and I's Blog.

Merry Christmas

I decided not to do a song today. I just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas.

Oh, and tell me what you all got!

See you all on chat soon! :-D

CHristmas eve

Tonight we go watching the lights, and do our thinking. today we break into the sweets, and eat pie. today play games, and have fun.

In many ways I enjoy this day more than Christmas, because with Christmas there is a little bit of it all being over. This day we spend time together, and have fun. Tomorrow we break into the presents, and try and figure out WHAT some of each other's gifts are. Both are fun, both are exciting in their own way.

So here are some tunes.

Thursday, December 23, 2010

You know that I said it was schedualed right?

Well We are not seeing the movie today. with everyone sick we decided to do it tomorrow.

Narnia

Well today is the day we go to go see the movie (unless I am sick again, this post is scheduled, i will post a message if we can't make it.) So I figured I will play some Narnia tunes today.

Why Santa is a false god

I always get disturbed by Christian families promoting Santa Clause. Many people have always done it, and it's now a tradition, and so they don't know why it's wrong. Today i'm first gonna go over why Santa is a false god, then proceed to show you exactly why promoting him even slightly is an abomination.

First is the origins of Santa Clause, which most people believe is Saint Nicholas, but in all reality he has as little to do with Santa as wrapping paper. The Modern Santa largely comes from Odin, who supposedly at Yule would ride an eight-legged horse by the name of Sleipnir. This horse in some traditions leaped from town to town, in others he flew. as part of this tradition Kids were to hang out their stockings filled with oats, carrots, or hay for Sleipnir. and in return for their offering, he would place candies or gifts in their stocking. This tradition clearly hangs around today, but in the place of a horse, he now has a sleigh and reindeer, and instead of carrots, kids leave out cookies and milk as their offering to Santa.

If his ties to Odin were not enough, the plate of cookies would be alone enough. Part of the tradition of Santa Clause is to leave these cookies so that he in turn will leave presents. you don't leave out cookies, supposedly he won't leave presents. This is clearly biblically banned. there are many, many passages on this but this one will do the best for now. http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy%204:%2015-40&version=NKJV

Further Parents teach their kids that Santa is always watching them (Hello! sound familiar? Who has this power but God himself?) and can see if they are being Good or Bad,a nd if they are bad he'll give them a lump of coal.

So I'm pretty sure we've established that Santa's a false god. Kids worship him, give him offerings, and behave for him. If you read the passage you would be pretty clear that God allows no other Idols either, but lets make this clearer. He says not to lie or bear false witness, even if all of the above were ok, Santa is a piece of fiction, and if you tell your Kids Santa is real, then they will believe you. They will believe that Santa's real, and you will have lied to them. SO Santa breaks the 1st, and 9th commandments.

And people wonder why I'm so against him.

more a praise than a thought

I would like to take a moment to thank our God for sending his one and only son to save a totally corrupt earth, that not only hated Him, but twisted his own words against Him. To take this world in hand and try to pull it out of the pit it dug, in stead of burying us to end this hate once and for all.

He gave up everything for only a little, He knew He would never regain the love He showed us, that not even if every heart turn back to Him could it equate to what He did. That He to every sin no matter how small, laws He wrote that we broke, and exempted us. He was the wronged, He was the victim of our fall, and yet He still shrugged it off, and saved us from our own folly.

for those still thinking

For a moment, while we are here, all is quiet. while this moment lasts, we are restful, and in this moment, we find a bit of peace. then that moment slips, gone forever, and forgotten till we long for it again. The chaos sets in, and we stress till our worlds fall apart.

We often complain these moments do not present themselves, but in all reality, it's often up to us to make them happen, and I find especially during the holiday season, people forget to make room for a peaceful moment with God. To separate themselves, and have a time away from their man-made chaos. They let their lives fall and plummet into turmoil until these peaceful moments feel like writhing struggles, that we are gasping for air so hard that we don't enjoy what little we get.

SO to those still thinking, to those who not consumed by chaos, is it not sickly ironic, that a holiday to worship our Saviour, would separate so many spiritually?

just a thought

In a moment, and in a year, we are useless. Every motion we make at first seems insignificant. But one small act can spur a larger one. as one could fight with one person, this could lead to a chain of anger until someone physically gets hurt.

But also, someone who merely raises their family right, and teaches them in a Godly manner, they could raise a great leader, a tool for God, or maybe their grandchild could be the influence to someone truly meant for greatness. Even if it is far down the line, it could make a huge change.

And there is a point to this, God calls us to give our entire lives over. To totally and completely worship and follow him. To obey him, and to do all for him. To do this, even if we ourselves do not make a change in this world, could one day have a dramatic effect on many lives in the future.

it's just a thought.

We resume our daily thoughtfulness

the days have been colder, football has been fun, and we are all gearing up for Christmas.

So as I sit here typing this bland boring blog post, you are probably cuddling up with a cup of cocoa, and secretly humming Christmas carols, but not loud enough for others to hear you (or so you hope.)

So I have something to ask you all. What is to you, the most Christmas food?

For me it's chocolate covered peanut-butter balls. It's like having a Reese's peanut butter cup, but home made.

I feel like going and taking a walk. so see ya, and enjoy this song.

Merry Christmas Mr. Bean

I'm no fan of Mr. Bean, I find him to be unfunny generally. SO this one is a bit weird for me. I at least thought it was good for a laugh or two.

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

In all seriousness

It's one of those things almost everyone does at one point or other. They forget why it is that we celebrate Christmas.

And if you you think it's just because of Jesus's birth, you are wrong.

It's because of his death and resurrection.

See him being born was in all reality just a start, everything he did after was far more important than his birth till finally, he did the most important part of all: He died for our sins, and resurrected, therefore conquering death, and freeing all who accept his gift.

So this year I want you to really think about it. Why we celebrate his birth is because of his Death. without his death and Resurrection, this holiday would be completely pointless.

How thoughtless

well it's today, and with every new today comes with a new thought!......

I don't have any.
...

This could be bad.
 um
help anyone?

Ok Kevin here filling in for the thoughtless Adam. And I'm gonna show you all a great Christmas tune.

Um Kevin, we need a thought, today's Christmas tune is little Drummer boy.

Right, ok, well I have a suggestion. Don't shop for Christmas presents on Christmas day. Last year I tried that with disastrous results. All of my family members got pocket lint last year.

back you you Adam

Thank you Kevin for that..... lovely insight. You can be rest assured that most people will heed your warnings.

Ok people, now for your songs. Last year I covered The Little Drummer boy renditions by Jars of Clay, and White Heart. this year I have a new one, and one I personally hate to share with you.

First the new one

Now the One I hate
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHBEMYoxooM

Now the two still dead locked White Heart and Jars of Clay ones.

Thinking that I'm not thinking

Today I am gonna discuss Christmas rap. when most people think of christmas, they don't think rap.

That would be because there arn't a whole lot of rap renditions of christmas tunes.

oh that and for some reason most Christmas tunes don't sound good as rap. don't ask me why, it just seems to be a quirk. So today we are gonna listen to some by TobyMac and DC Talk. Some great, and some really really bad.

The Bad

Yo ho ho.
This song is plain annoying, the consolation prize is the song that comes after it. Reason for the Season.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYOvGy1TDlA&feature=related

Next on our bad list will make your ears bleed. It is single handedly the WORST rap rendition ever.
O come all ye faithful
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrTc1dKNdgo

The Toss Up

Most people love love this tune, and while I admit it's decent, I hate it for throwing in and butchering a Christmas tune I love. Joy to the world

The song is This Christmas
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TX876kp0jBQ

The Good

Finally the obscure DC talk song. We three kings.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5M6kQA6Za8

So, now we know why Rap Christmas is not a growing trend. and probably never will be. still, for those who enjoy their Rap, I have pasted these songs for you to enjoy.

Why we have no Christmas Tree

One would walk into our house and ask us one question:
"Where's the tree?"

This is because we don't really do the Christmas tree. a while back we decided to put the focus more around what Christmas was about, which was Christ's birth, so that he would die for our Salvation. This is why about a decade ago the entire family got together and voted, on whether or not we were going to put our presents around a tree, or a Nativity.

it was unanimous, Nativity won. We had always enjoyed decorating a tree, but everyone liked the nativity idea more, so that year we went out and bought a really nice Nativity, and for once we did not put up a tree.

This worked out quite nicely actually. the Nativity did not take up as much space, so our living room did not feel crowded. (Which happens if you have a small living room) We also had fewer quarrels over setting up a nativity than putting the "good" ornaments on the tree, and most of all, it really DID put more focus on Christ, and not a tree.

We held this vote every year for about five years, when that last year, my parents decided it was set in stone: Five years of unanimously voting for the nativity was getting kind of old, so now it's one of our big Christmas traditions.

Now though, we did not have a huge display, so we went to work putting decorations elsewhere, and it payed off, instead of having one big pretty display, we made the entire house look nice, and fewer people fought STILL because everyone has their own project.

this si one of our traditions, and we love it, what are some of your unique Christmas traditions?

Friday, December 10, 2010

Something like a thought, and probably is a thought, and I shall be stubborn and call it a thought

You might have noticed I generally like harder remakes of classic Christmas songs, well this is one exception. I consider this to be one of the most beautiful renditions of any Christmas song ever done.

Today I do not have much to say, but tomorrow I shall work on talking about one of our traditions.

but I shall leave you with this tidbit of wisdom

Toddlers are impatient, this is something we learned about 5 years ago when our brother Hulk unwrapped HALF the presents and strew them out everywhere, ironically he did NOT open any of his own.
Now days we put most stuff in bags, wrapping paper is only used when it's really needed.

Thought of the day again

So far I have yet to find a good recipe for pasta in a toaster

oh and I like Having someone whom I love, and loves me this Christmas. This is a unique feeling to me. So, I ask, what has been unique to you this Christmas?

I am sorry to tell you that Me and Kindy do not have a song for you, but I am not sorry to tell you that I am putting up a couple of photos of ourselves.

Well um, Do to the fact that Kindy never sent me a winter photo, I will have to um, make do. Here is one of her profile pics.

best I could do. :-P

I will get a song up tomorrow.

In the Snow

The chill would burn the skin
and so it would always hurt him

As he slowly got out his bed
He yawned, and put on a coat
He would walk out to his shed
That leaned against the old boat

He grabbed the ax, and recalled
A time when there was cheer
Back when he was so enthralled
with the people he knew here

The kids would come out and play
The stars were clear in the black sky
And he would watch and stay
before he would in the end wander by

each whack against the grain
he would forget each voice
for their voices brought pain
just like the Children's toys

He raised the logs to his shoulder
He would walk back through the bog
He would rest them against the boulder
And himself rest against the logs

Then in the silence he heard a sound
Something he had not heard in years
a singing voice that sung so loud
A sweet voice that almost brought tears

He stood up quickly, and looked
at the woman who sang that song
The woman's face looked quite spooked
so that her voice did not last long

“Who on earth are you?” she exclaimed
The man stood, and did not reply
“I am looking for the old man” She claimed
“The one who looks at the sky”

“I am the one” The man muttered
“Then come with me” she said.
He stepped forth; his heart fluttered
and she lead him past the shed

He stepped into the forest where
It happened so long ago
The sight gave him quite a scare
But she said “Breath slow”

He stopped suddenly in the cold
She looked at him curiously
He suddenly did not feel so bold
She then looked at him seriously

“Come forth, and see they are not dead”
She said with a tone of honesty
“We are all still here far beyond your shed”
She took his hand but he pulled free

“If this is a trick, or a prank” He started
“I assure it is not” She pulled him along
“Then take me there” So they departed
She skipped along, then broke into song

“for we have waited through cold
and then sat in the ashes of our joy
below the sky, so bright and bold
No belongings, not even a child's toy”

The man quickly pulled out an old train
the last toy he had seen in the snow
the item he kept close, despite the pain
so that someone in the world might know

She took the train, a tear came to her eye
“A little girl own this once” She said sadly
“Someone who knit well, for this was mine”
She handed it back, but he gave it gladly

They rounded the corner, and that sound
a sound he had known so long ago
the sound of little voices singing around
the tree that was decorated in snow

“They are alive!” He yelled is great joy,
He rushed forth almost skipping along
She stood there and just clutched her toy
As he pranced around and sang her song

That night he had a home, not far away
Though round the bend, he never knew
that past his night, was a shining day
and a sky not dark and grey but blue

And he sat there drinking his chocolate
As the carolers gathered all around
a child took his mug and drank the last bit
So he sang a sound and made great sound

The chill could burn the skin
but could no longer hurt him

Christmas at ground Zero

It's that time of year again when we start worrying about what to buy for our families, and high on our lists is: "Wat will survive a nuclear bomb?"

Well the answer is: "Nothing" but for the sake of making you feel better, I shall suggest a 8ft thick steel wall, or a force field (that one may or may not be available for consumer purchase in time for Christmas)

Me? I'm gonna get some suntan lotion, and pack a picnic, and watch the fireworks as the bomb drops.

Monday, December 6, 2010

Tell me what you're thinking

You people are so demanding this time of year. So now I pose the question on you, what is your thought of the day? What are you thinking about this Christmas, be it silly, boring, or important, please do tell.

Bonus: What is that on his ballcap?

Adam's thought of the day

I hope you all enjoyed Kindy's stuff, but now I'm back, so let's see.....

"DO not soak your weasel is tomato paste" That to me would be a good bit of wisdom. I mean who wants to risk getting bitten by a weasel anyway? And tomato paste will just make them look red and weird. and eventually they will begin to rot, and who likes the smell of rotten tomatoes?

No no, Don't soak your weasels in tomato paste.

Ok, I have been informed I need to give something related to the holiday season.

Hmmmmmmm

I KNOW! "Momma thinks that Santa's elves are enslaved by Santa to do whatever he wants, and are cheap labor." I'm inclined to agree, so here's a question, why aren't we starting wars on the north pole to free the elves? I blame greedy consumerism. People will take anything if they think it will come to them free of charge.

I say we free the elves!

A stand in

Occasionally when you love someone, you have to do some work for them, and that's what I'm doing here today.

This is Kindy's Song of the day, and I have to come up with the thought of the day.

Ok how about this, plan out everything ahead of time. Don't just fly by the seat of your pants, and hope that everything goes smoothly; I promise you it won't.

Here's Kindy's song pick for the day: How Many Kings

on a side note, I'm disappointed in you my blog readers, I want to see more comments.

Patridges and pears... ^_^

O.o I do wonder myself....why would someone give their true love a Partridge in a Pear tree??? I better not ever get a pear tree...I hate pears :P

You know what I also wonder? I also wonder, why someone would need golden rings? and why would someone need 9 lords leaping??? What, is this person royalty or something??? This whole song reminds me of girfts a prince would give to a princess who was going to be his future bride, which, an all reality, I find ludicrous. I'll take a hug over all of it, a simple, hug. That's not too much to ask for is it????

I've aslo, always found this song to be...well, really silly. Nonetheless, I always find myself singing it or humming it, or singing along with it when it plays on the radio. I do know something else! I like Relient K's version of it the best! so..here it tis!.

Christmas is soon! check out the countdown on our sidebar ;) see ya'll later! Merry christmas!!!! (early that is) *grins*

Angel out!

A favorite Christmas Memory

Back in 2004 we moved to Texas. We lost most of our possessions and were pretty much strapped for cash. We made it off of my Dad's severance package for 6 months, but during that time we had a Christmas, and a bunch of siblings who had lost most of their toys in the move. That Christmas was difficult to shop for because of money issues.

It was looking like our bleakest Christmas ever, when My dad actually was able to get us a few more presents, and on Christmas eve, My Grandma came in with two huge boxes of presents for everyone. As a result that Christmas in one day went from looking like our bleakest, to being one of our largest ever. We all gathered around making candies, and cookies.

She had already given us a lot of old lights to use. So, we decorated properly, and we had lots of gifts, and we honestly had one of our best days that Christmas. It was so nice to see my brothers get toys again.

That was just one of my favorite Christmas memories, but I have more, stay tuned.

Tomorrow Kindy will share her thought of the day, and song. So stay tuned.

Katie's Birthday

So far, I have never found a good pickled candy bar. Not that I've found any Pickled candy bars, but hey, who knows?

Actually I'm gonna say that today's Katie Birthday, so Happy birthday sis! may you not be too annoyed by your overly enthusiastic friends!

Kevin's story of thanksgiving

Kevin here, and I'm going to explain the Thanksgiving season for you. My job will be to educate people on the most historical event in Russian history.

It first started with a bunch of cranky old men who wanted to run away from their homes because they got in a fight with a bunch of other cranky old men on how to Worship God. They whined and complained, and convinced a few hundred others to join them on their insane journey.

That's when the went to hall land. A land well known for building grand halls, but were also well known for those halls flooding because they were too stupid to build their country above water.
It is often believed that Hall Landers' favorite sport was water polo.

So while the Cranky old men sun bathed, and played water polo, some of the younger people didn't like all the noise that Hall Landers made, so they all got in a giant pillow fight. After the feathers settled, one guy decided to move to America.

After they all discussed it, they decided they needed a couple of boats, but for some reason they couldn't find any good Hall Land boats. (So far as I can tell, The Hall Landers were not good boat builders, or possibly they were too mad over the pillow fight.)

The King of England enslaved them all, and laughed as he shipped them over the sea in a small boat. This boat was called the Mayflower, and was not much bigger than a thimble. So these thimble sailors went to America, so that when they got there, they all leaped out and built a town.

This town had a lot of trouble, they starved a lot, and they got sick, and a few of them died. Mostly this was because they were picky eaters, So the less picky Indians took pity on them, and taught them how to grow corn. As a result the Pilgrim children were all rather cranky and threw lots of tantrums over their corn meals.
The fishermen were good at catching fish and eels. The hunters took out a lot of deer and turkeys.

Actually this lead to in interesting hole in most history books. While most believed they just had a better summer, and grew lots of food and were well fed, so they had a huge feast, I uncovered something far more interesting.

See the turkeys were not used to being hunted, so they decided to get revenge, they called their buddies on mars, who decided to visit for the evening. They all got mad about the hunting, so they invaded the Pilgrim's village.

The pilgrims fought off the turkeys while the Martians kidnapped them into their flying saucers. Finally a strange man on a hill looked down on them, and ran in to save the day. He single handedly slayed the turkeys, and blew up the flying saucers. Finally after he won the battle, he set one foot down on his turkeys, and yelled
“I'm on top of a turkey!”

This is why everyone eats turkey at thanksgiving, to remember the turkeys who invaded the founders of this nation.

** A note from Adam**
This is easily the worst version of the Pilgrim's story ever. Kevin got almost everything wrong, and therefor disregard all his statements. Go look up the real story, as it is available free almost anywhere.

*goes to kill Kevin*

A prayer request

Something terrible happened today, and Kindy had to leave town, I do not know when she will be back, and also I am not at liberty to say what the tragedy is, just asking that you all pray for her.

Thank you,

HE'S GOING TO KILL ME! :P

Here...

I'm here, I'm here, stop rushing me all you adoring people. ;-)
lolz jk. But, I am here.

So how have you all been lately? Me, pretty good. I'm still alive aren't I? And I don't jsut mean with a functioning brain and a beating heart. I mean I'm ALIVE. I plan to stay that way for a while. Physically I plan to stay alive as long as God gives me.

Anyone ever been college searching? You know going through that arduous routine. find a college, find an AFFORDABLE college, send in all your stuff. FASFA, transcript, and what not. then you set up a tour, and possibly an interview...
You know what I hate about this all??? So many colleges 'say' they are affordable becasue you can get a whole bunch of grants and scolarships. But what if you're just an average student? Not athletic enough for a sports scolarship, and not smart enough for an academic one either??? What about them? And the ones whose parent(s) make...

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell! That was a post that I HAD started, but, my train of thought on it has flown away. (trains can too fly! cause I says so :p)

Well...I don't know where I am going with this post either. I just know I have to put something up or HE'S going to kill me! (yikes!) lol jk ;) (I hope :P)

So...for now I am going to confuse you all with this post! You must figure it out for yourselves! mwahahahahaha (didn't I warn you all before you came that I am unpredictable and insane??? *laughs maniacelly* (so did not spell that right) LOL! I"m just joking about the insanity though! :D :D :D :D :D (mostly :P)

I'll see ya'll later! God bless~

Angel out! ;)

Feeling a bit tired.

It's been on of those weeks. We rented How to train your dragon on Monday, the same night that my dad's team lost their star QB. All in all that didn't go well. Buddy was nuts because of the "Dragon wizards" and stayed up half the night. This exhausted Katie, and so she was a crank yesterday. I can't really blame her though, she just didn't get enough sleep.

I've started Reading THE END. That being the last book in a series of Unfortunate Events. I might give my opinion when I'm done, or I might just be lazy and not give you anything.
I have done just about everything I can with this blog. Everything else that must be done can only be done by Kindy (Comment and tell her to hurry up! ;-) )
I'm listening to a lot of Weird Al lately. Just cuz.

We watched Despicable Me last night for $.50 a piece. that came out to be $3.50 for the whole crew to go see a movie together. I enjoyed it a whole lot, and it was incredibly cute. The minions were actually not just slapsticky, but also sweet in their own weird way. I love Edith, and she was my favorite girl.
I want my own Boogie Bots.

So I must get going, and get to work. And while I deal with the artificial tornado in the dining room, I suggest you go enjoy your peace.

Boredom

I'm right now listening to some Christmas music while writing a post. I just got out of the shower, and my brothers are playing video games. All in all everything is quiet and dull, so if you are planning on coming down here for a day of excitement and thrill, don't.

To add to the dull tone this day has cast, outside is grey, but not rainy, and my Momma and Katie are both out garage saleing. I injured my ankle the day before yesterday, and it was grinding all day yesterday, but today it is quite a bit better. (To those who have been reading my blog for the past year, but still haven't gotten a clue, I'm accident prone.)
I'm gonna do some house tidying later, Cleaning the bookshelves and under the sink are among my tasks. If I can get the boys to help me organize our bedroom today as well that would be delightful. If that were all not enough I still need to churn out about 2,500 words today. fun fun fun!

For those who have been keeping up with the Nithcur Prophesy, I am back to writing it, and I am at about 17,500 words. I want to reach 20,000 before Kindy gets back, but that goal is looking harder and harder to hit.

That reminds me, Tomorrow is Sunday, so Kindy will be back, YAY! I have so missed her chatting everyday. I have to get some photos of myself today, cuz she's been demanding more from me. I may take the sibs for a walk later and arm Katie with the camera, that is if the lighting ever gets better.

That's all for now. I am still bored, but now I have dumped some of it on you helpless pathetic readers MWAHAHAHAHAHA!
er I mean, thanks for reading.
